RescuedBooks - 5th Birthday - Big Changes

Announcing 5th Birthday and Big Changes for RescuedBooks

In honor of our 5th birthday (how time flies) and in the spirit of the
PaperBackSwap and the Freecycle Network, all the "rescued" library
books on the site will now be free. You will pay only shipping for those.
They will be marked FREE in the price column on the catalog pages.
Over half of the books on the RescuedBooks site are the "rescued"
library books.

All nonlibrary books will remain $1 or $2. Most of the nonlibrary books
are from my personal collection and are in good to excellent condition.

My only request to you is that all books remain intact or in circulation.
The intent is that no book be thrown in the trash or be destroyed. Please
feel free to resell, trade, or give away the books.

To save cost, order history tracking will be phased out so that the library
books can be offered at no charge. When the software license expires in
April, it will not be renewed. Your orders will still be shipped with USPS
delivery confirmation, though, so you will be able to track the status of each order.

Additionally, a 50 cent handling fee will be added to cover packaging costs
so that the library books can be offered at no charge.

"Post Your Book Wants" Message Board Problem

I found a slight glitch when reopening the site. The setting for the message board that I use for "Post Your Book Wants" got reset, so all the messages that were posted were lost.

I've kept the message board open, but have changed it to a moderated list (meaning that anyone can post a message, but it must be approved prior to being seen publicly).

I'm debating whether to keep this feature and would appreciate your input by voting to keep the "post your book wants" message board or not.

Moving from CT

RescuedBooks is moving from CT in November 2005. Hopefully all the books will be unpacked and restored on the shelves by January 2006. Starting 10/22 and until we get settled, we will not be able to fill any orders. The shopping cart will be disabled until January 2006.
